China’s leading mobile car-hailing and ride-sharing platform Didi Chuxing today announces a strategic partnership with Taxify, a leading ride-sharing platform in Europe and Africa.

Didi will invest in and collaborate with Taxify to support the latter’s future growth and innovation across various markets.

“Taxify will utilize this partnership to solidify our position in core markets in Europe and Africa. We believe Didi is the best partner to help us become the most popular and efficient transport option in Europe and Africa," said Markus Villig, founder and CEO of Taxify, in a statement.

Launched in Estonia in 2013, Taxify is the fastest-growing ride-hailing company in Europe and Africa, offering taxi- and private car-hailing services to over 2.5 million users in major cities across 18 countries, including Hungary, Romania, the Baltic States, South Africa, Nigeria and Kenya.

This latest tie-up comes after  Didi and Japan's SoftBank Corp have co-led the latest financing round of Grab, Southeast Asia's on-demand transport service last month.

Didi has also teamed up with a number of online mobility companies in southeast Asia as well as car rental company Avis since last year. It has been actively seeking collaboration and investment deals in markets outside China.
