Antai College of Shanghai's Jiao Tong University signed a deal with UK-based Institute and Faculty of Actuaries to exempt qualified students from seven of the 15 exams usually required to achieve an IFoA certificate.

Qualified members of Antai's Sino-UK Actuarial Program can be exempted from seven of IFoA's core technical exams across mathematics, statistics, finance, and economics, according to the agreement.

IFoA has around 30,000 members worldwide and has reached exemption recognition with just a handful of universities across China. The deal makes Antai the only business school in China with such an agreement.

Peng Juan, a professor with Antai College, said China's development in big data and internet of 6things will require a large number of actuarial talent.

"It's a trend for cross-sector development of actuarial talent," said Peng. "Students can not only take jobs in the insurance sector, but also in the fields of investment, financial regulation, social security, demographic analysis, and economic forecast."
