China's second-largest search engine, Sogou, posted a 41 percent year-on-year jump in net profits for the second quarter, helped by artificial intelligence features, the company said yesterday.

Revenue hit a record US$301.4 million and net profit was US$33.2 million.

"We continued to develop our growth engines including search and AI-powered innovations,” chief executive Wang Xiaochuan said in a statement.

Sogou will continue developing language-centered AI technologies in voice, translation and Q&A, which will empower its search, mobile keyboard and smart hardware product business, said the company.

Sogou is China's most popular search engine after market leader Baidu, according to consulting firm iResearch.

Sogou forecasts Q3 revenue at US$275 million to US$285 million, a 7-11 percent increase year on year.
