DHL eCommerce announced a partnership with Shopee, an e-commerce platform from Southeast Asia, in Shanghai on Friday that will allow Chinese online retailers to access consumers in Thailand.

The e-commerce sector of Southeast Asia has great potential with a compound annual growth rate of 32 percent between 2017 and 2025, and a market expected to reach US$88 billion by 2025. According to statistics, e-commerce gross merchandise revenue in Thailand will exceed US$5 billion by 2022, making it the second largest e-commerce market in Southeast Asia.

“We want to empower our customers to tap into this huge growth opportunity,” said Zhi Zheng, managing director of DHL eCommerce China & North Asia. DHL will provide Chinese sellers with door-to-door logistics services to reach consumers in Thailand.

There is a growing number of Chinese brands and sellers entering the e-commerce market in Thailand, but the geographical complexity of the region has created some logistical challenges, Liu Jianghong, head of Shopee Cross Border eCommerce said.

With DHL eCommerce integrated on Shopee in China, local sellers can sell and deliver on one single platform and keep track of all shipments directly on the app, according to DHL.
