Shanghai-based state-owned hospitality giant Jinjiang International announced on Wednesday that it has launched a new hotel booking platform, WeHotel, with more than 10,000 hotels available.

The platform has incorporated about 1 million rooms from over 10,000 hotels in more than 120 countries. The hotel giant has more than 130 million members, among whom nearly 70 percent are born after 1980. The platform covers a variety of types of hotels from budget to high-end.

On the agenda will be developing cross-border businesses and innovating hotel industry business with intelligent Internet technologies, it announced.

Insiders said the move will enhance Jinjiang's competence against online travel operators in terms of hotel booking business.

Jinjiang International has become the second biggest hotel group in the world, following Marriott International, after its recent acquisition of Radisson hotels.
