Huawei, the world's No. 2 smartphone maker, on Thursday released its long-awaited new flagship model — the P30, with prices starting at 3,988 yuan (US$595) compared with 799 euros (US$903) in Europe.

Huawei is “going to redefine smartphone photography”, with Leica lenses, a 40 mega-pixel rear camera and enhanced low-light performance, said Yu Chengdong, president of Huawei’s consumer business.

At the high-end, the P30 Pro costs up to 6,788 yuan.

Meanwhile, Huawei also upgraded its laptop product lines and launched a new smart watch on Thursday.

In 2018, Huawei’s consumer business revenue was 348.9 billion yuan, a growth of 45.1 percent year on year.
