Axalta boosts its China operation
New York-listed Axalta Coating Systems, a supplier of liquid and power coatings, says it is upgrading its products and services in China despite recent tensions with the US.
The company said it will target the high-end Chinese powder coatings market in the next three years through more investment in innovation.
“China is one of the largest markets in the global powder coatings industry and continues to grow,” said the company's Rajeev Rao.
“As a global leader, we are excited to bring more sustainable technologies and higher performance power coatings to the Chinese market and our customers,” Rao said.
Axalta's flagship brands — Alesta, Abcite and NapGard — will be relaunched with new Chinese names, reaffirming Axalta’s commitment in China, the company said.
It is also introducing its Plascoat, Wireguard and Talisman brands, allowing customers in China direct access to the company's complete portfolio of powder coatings.
The company said it will also enhance local powder coatings research and development.
Axalta is the world’s second largest powder coatings company with 15 powder plants worldwide, including three in Asia Pacific. It has been involved in developing the powder coatings market in China for more than 20 years.
