Office workers find career market challenging
The domestic career market became more challenging in the first half of 2019, according to a mid-year survey by recruitment firm Zhaopin.com.
Faced with the competition in the market, less than a third of respondents said they changed their jobs, with over half of them accepting a pay cut in doing so.
Industries like sports, education, real estate and information technology saw an average 14 percent of successful job hopping, and their pay rises were the highest among the surveyed sectors.
The white-collar workers in the financial field got the lowest salary growth for a new job during the past six months.
The report showed that 65.6 percent of all respondents found it difficult to land a new job, with the financial and transportation sectors having it toughest.
By occupation, over three quarters of human resource workers felt growing pressure, and the figure stood at around 70 percent in customer service, finance, administration and logistics.
During the first half of the year, promotions and salaries stagnated. Only around one fifth of those surveyed got a pay rise.
