Giant continues investing in Zhengtu

Shanghai-based Giant Inc has appointed a new chief technology officer, Nie Zhiming, and plans to continue investing in research for its 14-year-long game Zhengtu, including the debut of a cross-platform version for smartphones and PCs.

It has also established a partnership with the Shanghai Fine Arts Film Studio on intellectual property rights cooperation. Classic cartoon characters from the studio’s Hulu Brothers will be used in new Zhengtu games.

Nie said Giant will continue investing in the research and development of Zhengtu and other games, including PC-end products and a new product to be seamlessly switched across smartphones and PCs will be available this year.

By June 30, Giant had used 930 million yuan (US$137 million) to buy back shares to support the company’s long-term development, the Shenzhen-listed firm said.
