Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic, leading specialty chemicals company Evonik rapidly took voluntary actions to contribute to disease relieve efforts. Together with its local customers and partners, the company has been joining the fight against the epidemic through donations and free supplies.

In late January, the Chinese government called for the construction of two makeshift hospitals in Wuhan, central Hubei Province. The two hospitals are able to offer 2,600 beds in total.

Evonik arranged free supply of polyurethane additives to customers who manufactured mattresses for the hospitals. The eco-friendly additives Dabco® NE300, TEGOSTAB® B 8244 and TEGOSTAB® B 2470 from Evonik play a key role in ensuring low VOC and a good rest of patients.

Mattresses made with polyurethane additives from Evonik have been jointly donated to Wuhan.

The outbreak of the coronavirus epidemic has caused an acute shortage of medical supplies, especially personal protection equipment.

With strong support from its global ESH network and procurement resources, Evonik China joined local partner Fuhua to send a batch of protective masks and protective suits to support workers at the makeshift hospitals.
