Right after learning about the outbreak of the coronavirus epidemic, Alibaba announced the establishment of a special fund for medical aid, and then contacted domestic and global producers of protective equipment to purchase goods and provide assistance in affected areas.

As a long-term strategic partner of Alibaba, the international, independent third-party testing, inspection and certification organization TÜV Rheinland China immediately mobilized resources in various areas and provided the foundation of Alibaba free of charge with a wide range of safety services for domestic medical devices such as surgical masks, protective clothing and goggles, including product and plant inspections, document checks and the qualification of suppliers.

This ensured the traceability of the entire supply chain and the security and quality of deliveries, and prevented unscrupulous traders from placing counterfeit and substandard products on the market.

At the same time, TÜV Rheinland also works with teams of experts in its international network to speed up the process on a number of tasks, including supplier-qualification checks, brand approval, supply chain inspections, factory inspections and spot checks, and much more. This is to ensure that aid products from outside China are also compliant and safe and can be imported as quickly as possible into Hubei and Zhejiang provinces as well as other affected areas.

TÜV Rheinland leverages technical strength to overcome epidemic

TÜV Rheinland China mobilized resources in various areas and supported the foundation of Alibaba to purchase protective equipment and provide assistance in the affected areas.

In response to the many new needs arising from the epidemic, TÜV Rheinland China has launched a series of new services in a timely manner. For example, it's developed the industry's first aerosol filtering protection performance standard 2PfG CH0005: 2020-02 during the epidemic period. On February 25, Geely Auto became the first company to obtain TÜV Rheinland's aerosol filtering protection China-mark certification.

In addition, the guidelines for the implementation of virus infectious prevention and control measures in manufacturing plants and the key points for review of viral infectious prevention and control in industrial manufacturing industries have also been compiled. These two materials have been adopted by the Dalian Industry and Information Bureau and provided to enterprises in the city as reference for carrying out epidemic prevention and control work.

Meanwhile, in order to fully support customers to conduct business normally during the epidemic and better assist enterprises to reduce the impact of the epidemic on production, TÜV Rheinland China provides customers with convenient and high-quality services through online communication, including online seminars and online courses to BMW Brilliance, Xiaopeng Automobile, Huawei, Beijing Benz and Midea.

Besides leveraging the strength of technical capabilities in the field of testing and certification during epidemic, TÜV Rheinland China employees also actively show their empathy and donated more than 320,000 yuan (US$46,000). It will be delivered to the Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University through the China Youth Development Foundation for the treatment of COVID-19 patients and the purchase of anti-epidemic supplies such as reagents and protective equipment.
