Jaguar Land Rover continues to support epidemic battle
Jaguar Land Rover has rallied its resources to support China’s fight against COVID-19 from the very start. From JLR China to the headquarters in the UK, JLR has actively implemented a series of actions against the virus, shouldering social responsibility with earnest efforts.
On January 28, JLR China and Chery JLR announced a joint donation of 8 million yuan (US$1.13 million). Of the total donation, 5 million yuan went to the Hubei Charity Federation for the procurement of urgently needed medical supplies and other materials for Wuhan and other severely affected regions in Hubei Province, as well as for the support of front-line medical personnel and volunteers. The remaining 3 million yuan were donated to the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation for the prevention of future epidemics at primary and middle schools.
JLR China also worked with its supplier Beeswift to purchase 1,000 units of Dupont Tyvek 600 Plus medical protective clothing from the UK and shipped them to Shanghai. With the help of Pudong New Area Commission of Commerce, these protective garments were donated to six hospitals with fever clinics, including Shanghai East Hospital, Shanghai Seventh People's Hospital and Shanghai Pudong Hospital.
JLR board members and plant staff at Castle Bromwich and Halewood in Britain also expressed their deep concern for the Chinese people by showcasing a banner that reads “Our thoughts are with you, our Chinese friends!”
Qing Pan, a board member of JLR and executive director of JLR China, said, “The epidemic is a serious challenge for any country. Every JLR employee from the UK to China is closely following the development of the epidemic and contributing to combat it through their own efforts. Though some remarkable achievements have been made, we still need to join hands and work together to claim the ultimate victory.”
Considering all employees and dealers as one family, JLR China procured 100,000 face masks from the UK and distributed them to its 240 dealers across the country and employees at offices in Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou and Chengdu, as well as the production center in Changshu to ensure their safety while resuming work. In this way, the brand seeks to promote high-quality development and reduce the impact of the coronavirus while containing its spread.
JLR China and Chery JLR have also implemented a series of measures to offer their dealers additional support across the network, and to reduce pressure on dealer partners and help them cope with the emergency, alleviate inventory pressures, and relieve sales pressure.
Meanwhile, to protect the health and safety of customers, JLR China and Chery JLR have launched three new epidemic prevention measures: a “peace-of-mind” showroom, worry-free purchasing and worry-free customer services.
The company is pursuing a long-term commitment to the Chinese market and will continue to work together with all of its employees, dealer partners and customers, marching forward side-by-side and fighting the epidemic hand-in-hand.
