Plant-based meat maker expands retail availability

Encouraged by positive initial sales, plant-based meat maker OmniPork has expanded the availability of its products into offline channels.

Since its launch on the Chinese mainland last year, the brand has collaborated with a number of chains to promote new plant-based dishes.

“With more consumers paying attention to personal health and the environment, coupled with the rising price of traditional pork, the popularity of OmniPork has grown quickly,” the company said in a statement.

OmniPork products are now available in about 160 outlets of supermarket chains nationwide such as Ole', city'super, Parkson, Metro, Sogo and Apita.

Plant-based meat is created with protein from soy and other plants. They are claimed to be healthier with less fat and be able to help fight climate change and improve animal welfare.
