Shanghai shares fall for 4th day

SHANGHAI stocks fell for a fourth day today.

The Shanghai Composite Index lost 0.97 percent to end at 3,446.98 points.

Shares of more than 200 companies tumbled by the daily limit of 10 percent on the Shanghai and Shenzhen bourses.

Brokerages were among the worst hit shares. Pacific Securities sank 9.56 percent, Industrial Securities lost 2.34 percent to 7.52 yuan and Northeast Securities shed 2.71 percent.

Cinda Securities wrote in a research note that investor sentiment dampened over the expected poor earnings reports of listed companies.
