'Visionary ideas' welcomed as IBLAC turns 30
Shanghai Party Secretary Li Qiang pledged that the city will push forward development and reform, and said he expects international business leaders will continue to give valuable advice to help Shanghai facilitate the city's further reform and opening up.
"We see reform as our lifeline, opening up as the way forward and innovation as the key to success, and we will need the visionary ideas of global business leaders more than ever as we face new challenges and new circumstances," he said.
Li and Shanghai Mayor Ying Yong joined the members of the International Business Leaders’ Advisory Council for the Mayor of Shanghai in a ceremony celebrating the 30th anniversary of IBLAC at Shanghai Tower on Saturday.
He spoke highly of the role the council has played, which has brought in great minds and ideas to the city, and also opened a window for Shanghai to learn about international best practices.
"This has enabled Shanghai to draw international experience to continue with urban transformation and upgrading," he said.
The business community, as well as government officials, shared high expectations and strong confidence in the future development of Shanghai, he noted.
Mayor Ying Yong presented gifts to former chairmen and the current chairman as a token of appreciation for their contributions and advice to the city’s development.
IBLAC members also attended the exhibition showcasing souvenirs from previous IBLAC meetings.
