Exhibition summit opens in Qingpu District
The Global Exhibition CEO Shanghai Summit 2019 opened on Wednesday in Zhujiajiao watertown in Qingpu District with more than 10 CEOs from the exhibition industry scheduled to give speeches in the next two days.
The summit will focus on transformation and inheritance of the exhibition industry in China.
Donghao Lansheng Group, a state-owned exhibition and event organizer, announced it has co-funded private equity to support the exhibitions, games, incentives and cultural industries in Shanghai. The first investment of equity reached 1 billion yuan (US$145 million). It is expected to expand to 3 billion yuan.
The white paper on the Shanghai convention and exhibition industry 2018 was released, suggesting Shanghai is now ranked No. 1 in the world in terms of total exhibition capacity with exhibition area of over 1 million square meters.
Last year, Shanghai host 1,032 exhibitions, including 12 of the top 100 trade exhibitions as ranked by Imp-Exp Executive Magazine. The biggest event last year was the China International Import Expo.
“After the CIIE, international companies are eyeing Shanghai,” said Sang Jingmin, chairman of the Shanghai Convention and Exhibition Industries Association.
In the case of China Beauty Expo held in May, companies like P&G, Unilever and Johnson & Johnson which had not participated in previous expos were eager to have a booth, he said.
