Shanghai and Delta region to boost service startups

Shanghai will strengthen cooperation and collaboration on services, especially e-commerce and information, with other Yangtze River Delta regions.

In 2018, Shanghai’s e-commerce transaction volume reached 2.9 trillion yuan (US$430 billion), up19.3 percent and industrial service revenue hit 2.85 trillion yuan, according to the Shanghai Economy and Information Technology Commission, the city level industry regulator.

Startups and medium-sized firms play important roles in technology innovation and integration between dot-com and off-line economies, said Zhang Ying, vice director of the commission.

More than 20,000 Shanghai startups in the service industry already have support.
