A proposal to strengthen talent collaboration in the Yangtze River Delta Region was announced in Shanghai on Tuesday.

Cross-region talent collaboration, communication, cooperation, education and training work will be conducted in the delta region, a talent highland nationwide in the manufacturing and digital sectors, according to industry regulators in Shanghai, Zhejiang and Jiangsu provinces.

Shanghai has 39 universities, 25 higher vocational colleges and other organizations that contribute 65,200 professionals a year. With the city’s economic development and position as an international metropolis, Shanghai has rich resources in high-end talent covering automobiles, airlines, the Internet of Things, new materials and advanced manufacturing, the city's economy and informatization commission said. It also has a third of the AI talent in China, it said.

Shanghai and the neighboring provinces have great potential in training and serving talent, said Ruan Li, vice director of the local commission.

In the long term, the Yangtze River Delta is expected to become a national demonstration area for talent training and development, industry regulators said.
