New pro-business policies in Pudong

The Pudong New Area released 20 new policies on Friday to make it easier to operate and register a business in the area.

All business owners want a good name for their shops or companies, but in the past, many found that the name they favored had already been taken.

The new area has now launched a system that allows owners to search the names of existing businesses. If the name they want is still available, they can claim it for themselves.

It's also now easier for food companies to obtain production and processing licenses. In the past, area officials said there were six procedures a company had to go through before they could grant a license.

“It would take at least 20 days, but now they get the license on the spot,” said an official.
