Qingpu New Town was selected as one of the five key new towns in the suburbs of Shanghai to push the boundaries in urban, ecological and cultural development, according to the 2017-35 master plan of Shanghai Lake Dianshan Newtown Development Co Ltd, its developer.

Qingpu has been built into a sub-center in the west of Shanghai, a gateway for the city’s external services and a demonstration area for the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta.

Qingpu New Town will become an ecological development sample with unique charm, an innovative town with infinite vitality and a humane area with profound cultural heritage.

Qingpu New Town is an expansion of the old town’s original urban functions and a preservation of its original context and heritage.

Qingpu is about 50 square kilometers in size, with Youdun Port to its east, G50 Expressway to its south, Dianshan Lake to the west and Shangda River to its north.

Shanghai Lake Dianshan Newtown Development Co Ltd has been adhering to Qingpu’s “double-town” positioning since its establishment in 2010.

It has focused on the people’s sense of gain and the town-industry interaction as its biggest breakthrough, the advocacy of an ecological livability as its greatest concept and highlighting cultural heritage as a grand topic.

The new town’s builders have made a great effort in the pursuit of excellence. They have introduced several new chapters promoting ecology, housing, tourism, culture, education, medical care, senior care and manufacturing industry.

“Ecological livability” has been the company’s consistent theme during the town’s development.

Water system parks around the town are already in place and will improve the lives of residents because of the optimized space layout, hospitable ecological environment and profound cultural heritage.

The company has developed and constructed 35 residential communities for relocation, covering an area of about 3.7 million square meters, and provides about 34,000 housing units for resettlement.

At the same time, about 2 million square meters of renovated apartments in old residential areas will be completed by the end of 2020.

Furthermore, several beautiful block projects have been launched in Zhaoxiang Town, Liantang Town, Xiayang Street and Yingpu Street, as well as rainwater and sewage connection transformation projects.

Shanghai Grandview Garden is one of the five national 4A scenic spots in the district, while Qingxi Country Park is the only country park with wetland elements in Shanghai.

The company is striving to create a  leisure tourism model based on the characteristics of Grandview Garden and Qingxi Country Park.

Tour of Italy cycling events will be held in Qingpu at the end of this year. The district’s Sports and Cultural Activity Center has been completed.

The brand of the new town is further highlighted by two cultural name cards —  “Water Heavens” and “Peony Pavilion.”

The company has completed 12 school projects with a total area of over 210,000 square meters including the High School Affiliated to Fudan University, Qingpu Campus, Shanghai Pinghe Bilingual School Qingpu and Shanghai Lansheng Fudan Middle School, Qingpu Campus. This signifies the lengths the company has gone to introduce high-quality educational resources into the new town.

The company has completed phase-two construction of Qingpu Zhongshan Hospital, Zhujiajiao People’s Hospital and other projects, and  is constantly introducing high-quality medical resources.

With the official commencement of the Qingpu Branch of Gynecology and Obstetrics Hospital of Fudan University, it is about to embark on a new journey of high-quality development in medical and health-care services.
