New set of books released highlighting Shanghai's varied culture
The Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences today released a set of new books for the study of Shanghai’s cultural industries.
The Blue Book Series on Shanghai Cultural Development, an annual series which has a history of more than ten years, has seven new books published this year that cover local literature, films, intangible cultural heritage, public cultural services, cultural exchange, and cultural industry growth.
“The books are to provide an insight into Shanghai’s culture -- how it evolves, and how it will evolve,” said Yu Xinhui, Party secretary of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences.
“Culture is vital in making up a society’s characteristics, and we hope to contribute to a better cultural environment in Shanghai," Yu added.
President Xi Jinping said earlier that China should have stronger cultural confidence, and that Chinese culture should be competitive around the world.
The books also celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences.
