The Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences hosted a meeting Friday to award the best contributors to Chinese studies in celebration of its 60th anniversary.

As an academy with the longest history of studying social sciences in China, the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences is expected to contribute more to the growth of China and Shanghai after it celebrated its 60th anniversary.

“The Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences should continue to be a model for high-end think tanks and contribute more to the construction of Shanghai into an excellent global city,” Shanghai Party Secretary Li Qiang said.

In the past 60 years, the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences has produced a lot of academic works and trained a batch of professionals to serve the growth of China and Shanghai.

As part of the events to celebrate its 60th anniversary, the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences gave awards to several renowned scholars, including Jonathan Spence and Marie Claire Bergere, for their achievements in Chinese studies.
