A Eurasian promotion conference on trade in services was held on Wednesday as an important supporting activity of the first China International Import Expo.

Nearly 400 political and business leaders and representatives from over 10 countries, including Russia, Malaysia and Singapore, participated in the fair to work together to promote practical cooperation in trade in services along the Belt and Road.

Thirty Chinese and foreign companies reached preliminary agreements to enhance cooperation in various fields of the service trade.

As the country's first international public service platform, the Shanghai Global Promotion Alliance for Service Trade launched overseas promotions, including a website and official accounts on Facebook and Twitter, offering professional services to foreign companies. Brazil, Australia and Japan have joined the SGPAST platform.

Mao Jun, secretary-general of SGPAST, proposed an initiative to establish a new channel for exchange and cooperation.

"We hope more service trade enterprises and products from countries throughout the world to seize the opportunity of the CIIE to enter Shanghai as the first step and then expand in the Chinese market with the help and services of our platform," Mao said.

The Shanghai Commission of Commerce, the International Trade Center, and the ASEAN-China Center jointly organized the fair.
