Queensland Deputy Premier and Treasurer Jackie Trad

Queensland is to explore more collaboration with Shanghai in the future as the two sides celebrated their 30-year friendship as sister cities.

Jackie Trad, the Australian state's deputy premier and treasurer, said in Shanghai on Tuesday that she expected further cooperation in areas such as senior care, life sciences and the arts, along with traditional sectors of trade, finance, tourism and education.

She also said visitors to Queensland now can use Alipay for purchases.

“We have built up strong person-to-person, business-to-business and government-to-government relationships in the past 30 years, and our collaboration will expand further in the future,” said Trad.

Trad said she was amazed by the show the city was staging to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of People’s Republic of China.

Queensland will be taking part in the China International Import Expo this year with a bigger delegation and better presence, Trad added.
