Baidu and Shanghai Animation Film Studio have joined hands to offer an interactive exhibition featuring beloved Chinese characters such as the Monkey King, Calabash Brothers, Ne Zha and Black Cat Detective.

Using facial and speech recognition as well as motion capture technology, the exhibit features games and immersive experiences that bring beloved cartoons to life.

The exhibition features 16 sections based on different characters and story lines. It's also part of a broader trend to use cutting-edge technology to promote China's cultural relics and intangible heritage.

Yuyuan Creativity Lab and Commercial Properties Group also say they are striving to introduce more activities connected with traditional Chinese culture.

The event is taking place at Huabao Mansion inside Yuyuan Garden from October 18 to November 17, and combined admission for one adult and one child is 56 yuan (US$7.90).
