Public quota already exhausted for CIIE

The second China International Import Expo will open to the general public from November 13 to 20 for free.

But all 400,000 places have already been booked online, said Shang Yuying, deputy secretary general of Shanghai government. Among those registered 85 percent are from Shanghai. They also include 2,000 foreigners and 1,000 from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.

From November 5 to 10, more than 500,000 professional buyers will visit the CIIE, a huge increase from last year. Among them, there are 7,000 from overseas. By industries, about 31 percent are from manufacturing, and 23 percent from wholesale.

Shang also noted when some popular exhibits are on display within the exhibition center that prohibits purchases, they may also be available for sale at the Hongqiao Import Commodity Exhibition and Trading Center or on the online trading platform.
