Platforms supporting the China International Import Expo are helping "turn CIIE exhibits into commodities for sale."

The six-day CIIE has had a positive effect for a whole year supporting foreign products' entering Chinese markets via a batch of exhibition and trading platforms.

As one of the major platforms offering "6+365 days" exhibition and trading services to support the CIIE, the Greenland Global Community Trading Hub has attracted 139 enterprises and organizations from 57 countries and regions  since its opening  in November 2018.

To date, the cumulative passenger flows at the hub have reached 5.6 million, while over 6,500 professional buyers from home and abroad have visited the hub for purchasing and building partnerships.

Also, the hub has so far held more than 300 activities to boost commerce and trade, and has set the stage for upstream and downstream transactions with total trading volume exceeding 6 billion yuan (US$855 million) year to date.

Of note, the hub developed a strategic cooperative partnership with French jewelry brand Korloff Paris this year.

The renowned jeweler will set up its first store in China in Shanghai, and will bring the Korloff Noir Diamond, one of the world's largest known black diamonds, to China for the third CIIE. This 88-carat diamond with 57 edges is insured for US$37 million.

Another platform offering "6+365 days" exhibition and trading services, the Hongqiao Import Commodity Exhibition and Trading Center, serves as an online and offline cross-border e-commerce platform combining B2B and B2C retail and wholesale.

The center said it strived to create an open and high-quality exhibition and trading platform with a high concentration of foreign brands and products at excellent prices.

The center has gathered more than 10,000 products from more than 1,200 brands which are owned by 109 companies from over 70 countries and regions. Among them, more than 70 companies are CIIE exhibitors, and CIIE exhibits account for over 70 percent of the total number of products in the center.

During the second CIIE and its extended period, the center has received passenger flows of more than 150,000 visits, gaining a total sales volume of over 10 million yuan.

Also, during the Shanghai Double Five Shopping Festival this year, the center posted an overall sales volume of 7.8 million yuan.

Cai Jun, general manager of the Hongqiao Import Commodity Exhibition and Trading Co, noted that “a number of exhibits of 20 exhibitors to be displayed at the third import expo have already reached our bonded logistics center for exhibition and trade, and will be delivered directly from the center to the venue of CIIE in November."
