Shanghai stocks close generally flat

Shanghai stocks closed generally flat today although select counters managed to close up.

The Shanghai Composite Index edged up 0.03 percent to end at 3,385.39 points.

Information technology shares such as Thunder Software Technology Co Ltd, All Winner Technology Co Ltd and GuoChuang Software Co Ltd surged by the daily limit of 10 percent.

Construction companies also gained. Metallurgical Corporation of China Ltd and Shenzhen Mingdiao Decoration Co Ltd both hit the maximum daily cap of 10 percent.

Banks and non-financial counters, however, fell. China CITIC Bank Corporation Ltd shed 0.91 percent, China Merchants Bank Co Ltd lost 1.72 percent to close at 6.55 yuan while China Pacific Insurance Group Co Ltd fell 2.04 percent to 38.84 yuan and China Life Insurance Co Ltd dropped 2.02 percent to 28.68 yuan.
