Shanghai shares end lower amid uncertainties over US-China trade talks

Shanghai stocks ended lower today as investors stayed wary amid uncertainties in trade talks between China and the US, analysts said.

The Shanghai Composite Index slipped 0.48 percent to close at 3,154.28 points.

“Investors are holding a wait-and-see stance amid huge uncertainties when China and the US are in the second round of trade talks,” Yang Hai, senior strategic analyst at Kaiyuan Securities, said.

Shares of consumer goods and defense companies led the losses. Liquor maker Sichuan Swellfun Co lost 4.68 percent to 47.75 yuan (US$7.50), while defense company CSSC Science & Technology Co dropped 2.80 percent to 11.44 yuan.
