Chinese equities mixed on Wednesday
Chinese equities closed mixed amid waning trading sentiment.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index shed 0.23 percent to end at 2,878.12 points, while the Shenzhen Component Index climbed by 0.31 percent to 9,687.95 points. The blue chip CSI300 index edged down 0.03 percent to 3,849.82 points.
Turnover on the two major bourses totaled 355.7 billion yuan (US$50.23 billion).
Most sectors advanced on the day. Precious metals, jewelry dealers, non-ferrous metals and liquor shares led the gains. Anhui Golden Seed Winery Co Ltd increased by the daily limit of 10 percent.
Telecommunications operators suffered the biggest loss. Banking, securities and real estate industries also had weak performances.
On the STAR Market, 33 companies gained while 24 posted loss. Primeton Information Technology Co Ltd, a Shanghai-based tech company, was the biggest gainer with its shares surging by 60.78 percent.
