OPPO launches R11 smartphone with Barcelona theme to target young users

Over 90 percent of smartphone vendor's users are under 30 years old

OPPO will focus on young consumers as well as the middle-and-high end segment to grow in the smartphone market, China’s No. 2 smartphone vendor said on Wednesday in Shanghai.

More than 90 percent of OPPO’s over 200 million users globally are young people under the age of 30.

In order to tap young consumers, OPPO integrates entertainment, sport and fashion elements together with technology improvements on design, photography and battery, said Wu Qiang, the company's vice president.

OPPO has also launched a special version of its R11 smartphone costing 3,499 yuan (US$515) which incorporates design and theme of Spain's Futbol Club Barcelona. The smartphone comes in different colors and full metal design on the back to woo young users.

OPPO, which released the R11 in mid-June, has sold over 2 million of the phones.
