A 3D printing convention with Belt and Road theme will open in Shanghai in October, and is expected to boost industry development and international cooperation.

More than 600 3D printing firms from countries like China, Germany, the United States, Holland and Belgium will attend the 2017 World 3D Printing Annual Meeting in Shanghai, organizers said.

China will become a “front-runner” in the 3D printing industry, and the new technology is in line with the Made in China 2025 strategy of boosting innovation and transformation in traditional industries, analysts said.

3D printing technology development requires global collaboration and technology exchange. The One Belt One Road national strategy will fasten that process, organizers said.

Revenue in China’s 3D printing industry is likely to be 10 billion yuan by 2020, five times that of 2013.
