Alibaba Cloud launches proprietary AI solution for agricultural and animal husbandry sector

Alibaba Cloud launched on Thursday its proprietary artificial intelligence solution for agricultural and animal husbandry businesses which are vital to the Chinese economy and are a strategic industry. 

“The agriculture and animal husbandry industry is a strategic sector and matters to the lives of billions across China and we are committed to work with industry partners to resolve real-life problems," said Simon Hu, senior vice president of Alibaba Group and president of Alibaba Cloud, at the Computing Conference Shanghai Summit on Thursday. 

Alibaba Cloud, the cloud computing arm of Alibaba Group, also hopes to extend technological solutions in the agricultural field to many other sectors, including forestry and fisheries, and eventually help enterprises and individual farmers increase efficiency and improve quality of production to provide a greener and healthier option for consumers. 

It will also expand its artificial intelligence capability in urban management to cover emergency medical service,  environment management, tourism, urban planning and public security. 

At the summit, the company showcased voice recognition technology to help metro riders buy tickets at the automatic vending machine. 

It also unveiled the cloud data center for the Winter Olympic Games to be held in Beijing in 2022.
