China Mobile's Migu and Suning tap sport market set to hit US$448b

China Mobile’s Migu, a digital entertainment subsidiary, and Suning are tying up to jointly tap into the three trillion yuan (US$448 billion) sport industry in China, both companies said today.

The partners will cooperate on sport content production, distribution and smart device and data analysis. As people spend more on culture and sport products, the Chinese sport industry will be worth three trillion yuan annually, the companies added. 

Both partners will work on a 451 project, referring to 4K high-definition content, coming 5G network and one complete sport ecosystem.

Migu now broadcasts the World Cup on smartphones. Suning’s sport subsidiary now has more than 50 million users, including 1.5 million paid users.
