Alibaba to invite 200 top international brands to expo

Alibaba Group aims to invite 200 top overseas brands to the China International Import Expo and will leverage its consumer platform to help global brands connect with shoppers.

Alibaba's Hema Fresh Market will showcase its storefront with 3,000 square meters of exhibition space at the expo. 

Alibaba Group is aiming to invite 200 top overseas brands to the China International Import Expo 2018 and will leverage its consumer platform to help international brands connect with Chinese shoppers.

Alibaba's Hema Fresh Market, a new retail format which combines dining, shopping and on-demand delivery service, will also showcase its storefront with 3,000 square meters of exhibition space at the expo.

The e-commerce giant is also seeking to expand the expo's impact and extend to more physical stores which are accessible to more ordinary shoppers.

Alibaba Cloud is also helping the National Exhibition and Convention Center with a digital smart exhibition system that can help exhibitors and convention organizers to build a digital layout that covers both outdoor geographic information and indoor exhibition space information.

"Tmall International has helped more than 10,000 international brands to connect with local shoppers and the Chinese consumer market which is also a response towards the national strategy, and we will continue to work with overseas brands in close partnership to promote the new retail strategy," said Tmall International general manager Liu Peng.

It currently hosts 18,000 brands from 74 overseas countries and regions.
