BOE tops global LCD TV market

China’s BOE became the world’s biggest LCD TV maker by sales in the first half, thanks to increased capacity and technology upgrades, research firms said.

The top TV panel makers are BOE, LG Display and InnoLux Corp. South Korean players including LG and Samsung still have advantages in high-end markets, said analysts.

In the firs half, global LCD TV panel sales reached 135 million units, a 3.5 percent drop from the second half last year. BOE had sales of 25.8 million units, LG Display 23.7 million units, InnoLux 20.7 million and Samsung with 19.1 million units, according to researcher Sigmaintell. 

BOE sales jumped 34.6 percent year on year in the first half, which made it the only rapidly growing player among the top vendors.

BOE, which has over 10 production lines in China and produced 25 percent of the world's  LCD panels in 2017, according to researcher IHS. 

Shenzhen-listed BOE's revenue grew 36 percent year on year to 93.8 billion yuan (US$14.4 billion) in 2017. Its net profit soared 302 percent from a year earlier to 7.6 billion yuan.
