Artificial intelligence technologies and features will create new markets valued at 100 billion yuan (US$14.5 billion) in smart home and Internet of Things sectors, Shanghai Daily learned today.

More than 100 firms, each of which produce 1 million AI-featured devices, will debut on the market within one year. This will create a market worth at least 100 billion yuan due to demands from smart home appliance and sensor sectors.

Chip firms will also benefit from the AI wave, coming from Bluetooth, remote control and sensor systems, industry officials said during the Future Intelligent Business Summit held in Shanghai.

More than 1,000 AI-featured devices and gadgets are being showcased during the conference, which boost AI development and business transformation.

Shanghai has set AI as a strategic growth engine to contribute 100 billion yuan annually within two or three years, compared with 70 billion yuan in 2017.
