Almost 20,000 communities in Shanghai now have 1,000 megabits per second network Internet access, covering 10 million households.
The effective broadband speed for individuals is as high as 150Mbps.
Shanghai Telecom completed the construction of the 1,000Mbps Optical Network Wednesday. Shanghai thus became the city with the most 1,000Mbps network users in China.
The construction of the 1,000Mbps Optical Network began in 2016. The overall investment exceeded 1 billion yuan (US$144 million).
