Parcel flows between Spain and China set to speed up
Alibaba's logistics affiliate Cainiao Network has signed a memorandum of understanding with Spain's state-backed postal and logistics service provider Correos Group.
The partnership will improve parcel traffic between China and Spain, and support e-commerce packages from the AliExpress platform, which targets overseas buyers.
The collaboration also plans to boost exports by small and medium-sized Spanish companies to Europe and ultimately to the entire world through warehouse management, sorting and delivery.
Cainiao and Correos' current partnership has allowed deliveries from China to reach Spain in around 10 days and will be delivered onto consumers within 72 hours.
"The collaboration will enhance logistics efficiency between China and Europe through technological improvements," commented Cainiao President Wan Lin.
The Spanish postal service is also offering AliExpress merchants physical exhibition spaces for online merchandise through its nationwide network of branches.
Correos will work with Cainiao on specific logistical solutions to speed up the distribution of packages.
Last year, Alibaba decided to invest over 100 billion yuan (US$15 billion) to build delivery networks that fulfill domestic deliveries within 24 hours, and global orders within 72 hours.
Some 3,000 logistics companies and service providers are partnering with Cainiao Network to promote swift delivery solutions.
