Model cars with smart driving features are used in AI education.

A national artificial intelligence textbook has been released to promote AI to primary school students and even younger groups.

It will help young people better understand AI and establish an eco-system for AI education and various AI applications, according to industry insiders, who said that artificial intelligence will be a major growth engine for innovation and economic development in the next decade.

"Introduction to Artificial Intelligence" has been issued by AI startup SenseTime and the Commercial Press.

“The next-generation of students should prepare for AI and a changing society. They will become competitive in their career and future with AI education,” said Dai Juan, general manager of Education and Video Platform at SenseTime.

Besides the textbook, SenseTime also launched teaching tools including robots and smart model cars.

SenseTime previously published an AI textbook for senior high-school students which is used in over 100 schools nationwide.

SenseTime also currently offers training for 500 teachers from over 200 schools.

In May last year, SenseTime raised investment of US$620 million, making it one of the world’s most valuable AI firms. Its technologies are used in smart cities, smartphones, the Internet, smart driving, finance and retail industries.

At a recent conference in Beijing, SenseTime released five industrial applications with AI in transport, shopping, education, health care and interactive entertainment.
