Samsung has opened a flagship store in downtown Shanghai, its biggest store in China, the South Korean company said on Thursday. Trial operations have begun and its official debut will be on October 18.

The store on Nanjing Road E. has two floors and occupies a space of around 800 square meters. The company's latest smartphones and headphones will be on display and the store will have a gaming corner and 5G speed tests.

The new store is opposite an Apple Store and not far from a new Huawei store.

In August, Samsung was the first foreign brand to release a 5G phone in China.

In June, the country issued long-awaited commercial 5G licenses, triggering a new market for telecommunication devices and smartphone vendors.

By August, Samsung had sold 2 million 5G models in South Korea, the company said.
