Epson 'on the rise' in China
Epson’s performance in China is “on the rise” at a time when large companies are facing an uncertain economic environment, the Japanese firm said on Wednesday.
The firm said it had achieved its goals for the first half of the fiscal year which ended in September, with booming sales of star products, including inkjet printers, innovation in the wearable, visual and robotics sectors and relationships with local partners. For example, the company is providing laser projectors and technologies for the teamLab museum, an art show which will debut in Shanghai next month.
“Innovation and localization are dual engines to boost our growth here (in China),” Akihiro Fukaishi, president of Epson China, said during its Epson Innovation Days event in Shanghai.
Epson has achieved its business goals in the first half of the fiscal year and expects to complete future goals with innovation and offering “China customized” products, the company said.
The market leader had sold more than 40 million inkjet printers globally by the end of August, 6 million of them in China, according to researcher International Data Corp.
Epson has invested US$822 million in China since it entered the domestic market in 1998 and has around 16,000 employees in China.
