CIIE to feature 5G
5G signals will cover all areas of the China International Import Expo venue, offering support for services such as security management, virtual reality displays and robotic controls, Shanghai Daily learned on Friday.
The 5G services focus on the needs of the exhibition, exhibitors, working staff and guests of the coming CIIE. This is also the first world-class fair event after carriers started commercial use of 5G in Shanghai.
More than 130 5G base stations and 2,795 indoor mini-stations have been set up in the CIIE buildings, covering the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) halls, as well as neighboring Metro stations and hotels, according to government officials and the local branches of China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom.
5G technology will support on-site venue management as well as real-time high-definition video broadcasting and high-tech product demonstrations, among other tasks.
At shopping centers in the Pudong New Area, as well as Xuhui and Changning districts, people can also watch video broadcasts of CIIE activities by 5G.
