Government leaders share AI visions at Hongqiao forum

Senior government representatives from around the world told the Hongqiao International Economic Forum on Tuesday of their high expectations of new technologies, especially artificial intelligence, boosting their economies and change people’s lives.

Government leaders from Cyprus, Armenia, Luxembourg, Slovakia and Hong Kong shared their visions and latest achievements in AI and data usage at the forum, a part of the China International Import Expo which opened on Tuesday. The forum's theme was "Artificial Intelligence and Innovative Development: Ideas, Technology and Markets."

Chief Executive of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Carrie Lam highlighted integration between digital technologies and the finance industry. She also spoke about the importance of talent and expectations of cross-region development covering Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau. 

AI and other innovative technologies opened a new door to the world, speakers said, adding that AI was being used in various sectors including finance, agriculture, smart manufacturing.

AI has also driven development of the world economy and integration of the global market, realizing the transition from old to new growth drivers, they said.
