Alibaba's enterprise communication and co-working platform DingTalk is pledging 100 million yuan (US$14.3 million) in subsidies for 100 counties and provincial-level cities to boost digital infrastructure at the grassroots level.

Vice president of Dingtalk Yang Meng said it plans to offer tailor-made solutions for rural areas and county-level government administration to boost poverty alleviation efforts.

"It's also our latest response to the nation's call for smart infrastructure construction and we hope to raise efficiency for administrative work which benefits residents and local merchants alike," he added.

A variety of resources and capabilities will be available for county-level government agencies through Dingtalk's platform.

Some of its previous industry solutions cover manufacturing, retail, health care and education.

The National Development and Reform Commission and other government departments have lately been calling for the development of the digital economy to stimulate consumption and stabilize employment.
