Theater curtain raised

The 2018 Theater Season raised its curtain at the Xixi Paradise Arts Center in Hangzhou.

Through December, 10 performances will be staged in four major theaters around the city. The shows come from eight countries and feature different categories of performance art, including dance, mime, quartet, experimental theater and a cappella.

There will be Chinese premiere of a cappella show “GOBSMACKED” in September and a thought-provoking Polish sci-fi play “Humanoid” in October. The fare for each show ranges from 280 yuan (US$44.2) to 580 yuan, while a ticket pass of 1,988 yuan will also be available online.

The Theater Season is jointly organized by The Roof Culture, the arts and cultural sector of Wanke Hangzhou and Xixi Paradise Arts Center.

“Last year we have been to theater festivals in Japan, Israel, Edinburgh and Avignon. So we hope to bring the best from each country to audiences in Hangzhou and neighboring areas,” the founder of Xixi Elane Dong said.
