Shanghai International Arts Festival highlights revealed
Contemporary dance “Cacti”
Three highlights of the 19th Shanghai International Arts Festival were released today, including a contemporary dance troupe from Australia and a farting elephant.
The three programs will be staged in Shanghai from October 22 to November 4 with the support of Volvo Cars, which has just officially become the strategic partner of this year’s festival.
Dance “Counter Move” features two contemporary works of very different styles – “Cacti” by Alexander Erkman and “Lux Tenebris” by Rafe Bonachela.
“Cacti” satirizes modern dance and dance critics through a funny story, while “Lux Tenebris” calls for instinctive connections among people by staging a time travel-like experience with lights and shadows.
Libera, with its predecessor as St Philips Boys' Choir, will present many of their repertoire covering not only classic choral pieces but also pop songs.
And “Farting Elephant Playing the Tuba” is determined to provide a fresh theater experience for children. It combines both storytelling and music appreciation.
Some programs for the arts festival this year will also be staged at its Art Space and Arts Plus series, with low-price or even free tickets, so as to benefit more residents.
