US$8.7m 'Lucky Star' up for sale
A rare jadeite and diamond necklace named “Lucky Star” will go under the hammer at the fall auction of the Royale Auction House in Hong Kong later this month, together with a cluster of jewels and other jadeites.
The “Lucky Star” is expected to fetch at least HK$68 million (US$8.7 million).
The quality of jadeite is usually determined by three primary features: color, transparency, and texture.
But the superb texture and translucency, with a luminous subtle glow and watery luster, of the “Lucky Star” is quite rare for cabochon of this size. Cabochons are polished and shaped rather than faceted.
The “Lucky Star” will be displayed at the Mandarin Oriental Taipei on November 5 before being shown at the Island Shangri-la Hong Kong on November 26 and auctioned November 27.
