Suzhou opens new cultural heritage site
The Suzhou Cultural Maker Space, a collaboration between the Suzhou Center of Public Culture and Shanghai Library, recently opened free of charge at the public cultural center in Suzhou.
Occupying an area of 159 square meters, the space offers an interactive multimedia area, exhibitions and on-site performances of the craftsmanship of the city’s intangible cultural heritage.
“We are going to invite some young people to give lectures on the intangible cultural heritage items of Suzhou to students through VR and 3D printing,” said Cao Jun, director of Suzhou Center of Public Culture. “The young generation actually needs new modes to revive traditional culture.”
Suzhou has the most UNESCO intangible cultural heritage items in all of China, with the country as a whole hosting 39.
