When ancient China and Mickey Mouse collide ...
A collision between ancient China and Mickey Mouse is revealed in a cluster of art derivatives developed by Shanghai Museum and the Walt Disney Company.
Inspired by the patterns of ancient bronzes and the cartoon character, they made their appearance at the recent Shanghai Museum Night.
Yang Zhigang, museum director, said: “This is cross-media collaboration between the east and the west, between the present and the past, filled with creativity and imagination.”
From plates, scarves, cups, umbrellas, bags and T-shirts to earrings and necklaces, all the items are for sale at the museum's gift shop or its online T Mall.
Visitors to the gift shop will also see a 2-meter-high Mickey Mouse on display.
